The Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Accountant with 3-5 years' experience for an exciting position working directly for the Head of Finance (CFO) in a fast-growing, privately-held law firm experiencing significant growth! Based in Malibu, CA, with the flexibility to work from home up to 4 days per week or as needed, this role will focus on daily accounting tasks, financial analysis, expense analysis and management, and internal controls. Responsible for QuickBooks Online bookkeeping, expense processing, and preparation of financial reports, performance metrics and financial statements. In addition, opportunities exist for special projects related to insurance, procurement, banking, financial metrics and growth strategies. This is a unique opportunity to develop professionally, due to the company's fast growth and the position's direct exposure to the Head of Finance, an experienced finance executive who is involved with all facets of the business, and who reports directly to the Managing Partner and Founder of the firm. Essential Duties and Responsibilities A successful Senior Accountant must spend over 50% of work time on, and satisfactorily perform, these general categories of duties, which require significant discretion and independent judgment1. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Daily accounting using QuickBooks Online with proper accounting classification Preparation and analysis of interim and year-end financials Maintenance and reconciliation of IOLTA account / Funds Received channel Vendor payments, invoice processing, and management of Ramp A/P system T&E/Business expense reimbursement, policy enforcement, tax compliance Financial analysis, including monthly revenue reports and forecast updates Internal controls projects, including: Review of corporate credit card and bank charges, expense trends, and fraud prevention Development and enforcement of internal controls Ensure compliance with company policies related to disbursements, travel, and entertainment Case costs review prior to legal settlement Special projects e.g. insurance, procurement, banking, financial metrics, growth strategies Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience 3-5 year's experience bookkeeping, accounting, audit and financial analysis Internal control mindset but balanced with growth mindset BS Accounting GAAP (currently cash-based accounting) CPA and/or public accounting firm experience a plus 1 This list is a summary and not inclusive of all essential duties. Skills and Abilities QuickBooks Online proficiency for daily accounting tasks Strong financial analysis and reporting skills, including variance analysis and forecasting Excel proficiency (sort/filter/pivot/vlookup/find/replace/avg/count/sum/etc.) for large data manipulation and analysis Knowledge of expense processing and A/P management systems (Ramp, T&E) Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze and summarize data into actionable insights Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills Ability to ensure adequate internal controls and compliance with policies Proactive problem-solving and process improvement mindset Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks effectively Strong communication skills to explain financial concepts clearly Intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand and enhance business operations Compensation Base salary $60-85K DOE Overtime discretionary Stipends for health & wellness and phone/internet/electricity Company subsidies for healthcare premiums (medical/dental/vision/life insurance) Company 401(k) match: up to 3% dollar for dollar, with 6-year vesting period Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
