We are looking for a talented Tax Manager to join our European Tax Team based in Huddersfield, United Kingdom.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Ensure Compliance: By overseeing the preparation and submission of UK corporation tax returns, you’ll ensure timely and accurate filings, maintaining the group’s compliance with tax regulations.
- Maximize Tax Benefits: Your advice on R&D and Patent Box claims will help the group maximize tax benefits, leading to significant cost savings.
- Strategic Tax Planning: Providing strategic tax advice will optimize the group’s tax position, identifying opportunities for tax savings and efficient tax structuring.
- Risk Mitigation: By maintaining the tax risk register and ensuring compliance with SAO and CCO regulations, you’ll mitigate tax risks and align tax strategies with business goals.
- Accurate Reporting: Managing the tax accounting process for statutory accounts and group reporting will ensure accurate tax provisions and deferred tax calculations, supporting financial transparency.
- Collaboration: Working closely with finance, legal, and the global tax team, you’ll provide essential tax guidance on day-to-day operations and strategic decisions, fostering a collaborative environment.
- External Relationships: Managing relationships with external tax advisors and liaising with HMRC will ensure the company receives timely and accurate advice, effectively handling tax audits and disputes.
- Adaptability and Growth: With the potential to expand your role to cover non-UK European operations, you’ll contribute to the group’s broader tax strategy and operations, showcasing your adaptability and growth within the organization.
Responsibilities
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Professional Qualifications and Experience: A professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CTA, or ATT is essential, along with a minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience in UK corporate tax, ideally within a large corporation or a Big Four firm.
- Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of UK tax legislation and knowledge of tax accounting under US and/or UK GAAP. Familiarity with international tax principles is an advantage.
- Analytical and Communication Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex tax regulations, and excellent communication skills to present tax matters to non-tax specialists effectively.
- Collaboration and Leadership: The ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external advisors, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Leadership skills to mentor and guide non-tax finance staff and collaborate with senior leadership are also crucial.
Qualifications
Education/ Experience:

- Significant experience in UK corporate tax, ideally within a large corporation or a Big Four firm.
- Experience in preparing and reviewing UK corporation tax returns and tax accounting entries.
