They are seeking a Senior Tax Specialist in Retail Finance to join their dynamic team in Cape Town.

As a Senior Tax Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing the tax function for the Group. You will provide comprehensive tax advisory services, ensuring compliance with both local and international tax regulations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with independent financial advisors (IFAs), focusing on cross-border tax compliance and planning. It is an ideal role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to make a significant impact.

Responsibilities:

Stay updated on tax regulations and legislative changes within South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, and Bermuda.
Manage tax advisory relationships with in-country counsel for ex-SA operations.
Build and maintain effective relationships with local and foreign tax authorities.
Provide expert tax advice to the business and financial advisors, handling complex tax-related inquiries.
Prepare detailed reports for management and legal teams on legislative and tax reporting requirements.
Conduct tax audits and review control environments to identify discrepancies and ensure compliance.
Contribute to industry discussions and provide training to internal stakeholders regarding tax legislation.
Support IFAs in navigating legal and tax-related challenges, delivering presentations, and facilitating discussions.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Commerce with a HDip in Tax Law or Master in Tax.
Preferably a Tax Practitioner designation (TA(SA)).
Experience with unit trusts, LISP, long-term insurance, and retirement fund businesses.
Familiarity with local and international tax reporting standards such as FATCA/CRS, DWT, and IT3.
Strong problem-solving skills, detail-oriented, and capable of working under pressure.
