This privately owned multi-site organisation is currently growing through acquisition. They have a dedicated team and excellent reputation which has led to steady expansion. They have now reached a point where the business requires an in house Financial Controller to oversee and lead the accounting function as they continue to grow. The remit will be to improve processes and financial reporting across all sites, develop the finance function and provide the Directors and Managers with meaningful MI.
A key aspect of this role will be driving change, modernising where necessary and raising the profile of the finance department to ensure it adds value and controls cost throughout the business. Longer term there is scope to potentially step up to a Finance Director level position. The ideal candidate for this role must be comfortable being the only finance person in the business. The key duties for this position will be:
You will be required to work closely with the MD and other managers to improve controls and create efficiencies, ensuring the finance department adds value and supports the rest of the business. The role will require someone who is very organised, can multi-task and is willing to travel to other sites in Lancashire to be the visible face of the finance department. This will be the most senior finance role within the business and would suit an individual who is looking for a career enhancing opportunity with a growing business.

- Producing monthly management accounts for each site
- Support site managers with the preparation of budgets and forecasts
- Develop and maintain consolidated performance reporting models
- Implement KPIs that drive efficiency and profitability
- Provide analysis to support business planning and commercial activities
- Dealing with day to day transactions and payroll (100 FTEs)
- Monitoring cash and capital expenditure projects
- Help managers introduce policies and improve systems
- Implement recommendations from audit outcomes
- Managing the production of statutory accounts
- Deal with HMRC, VAT and PAYE matters
- Point of contact for funding via local authorities
- Negotiating commercial terms with suppliers and other service providers
