SoftBank Investment Advisers is seeking an Associate to join the Investment Risk team. This position will require a candidate who is methodical, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and who is able to apply financial understanding to monitor and assess risks inherent in Softbank’s portfolio of investments. This involves the maintenance and evolution of database and models to ensure that the Risk infrastructure remains suitable for Softbank’s dynamic portfolio of investments. The candidate will also work on new investment evaluation, including financial model review, market and industry due diligence.

Responsibilities
  • Understand risks in Softbank’s portfolios and prepare analysis on risk exposures
  • Maintain and enhance the automated solutions for the risk metrics and report production
  • Support the development of approaches for performing scenario analysis on Softbank’s portfolio
  • Evaluate and assess risks of the individual investments via a review of the investment thesis, business performance, financial projections including the assumptions utilized
  • Interact regularly and develop strong relationships with investing teams to enable a forward-looking view of risk exposures
  • Collaborate with functional teams to improve the flow and sourcing of key data
  • Support the response to requests from senior leadership, Limited Partners, and the Board of Directors


Required Qualifications / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or Economics is required with a demonstrated track record of both academic and professional success. Relevant Master’s degree is beneficial. Experience in Quantitative Finance or Statistics is also a plus
  • Work experience in financial services (Banking, Private Equity, Venture Capital) and practical knowledge of financial analysis is preferred.
  • Experienced in financial modelling and analytics. Exposure to methodologies used to evaluate investments and returns is beneficial
  • Ability to manage multiple reviews with competing priorities across global geographies
  • Self-starter who thrives in a busy environment, engages, works collaboratively and with integrity
  • Proficiency in Excel and Powerpoint is required. Experience using Bloomberg, MatLab, and VBA is preferred
