Gleeson Recruitment Group are working exclusively in partnership with a highly acquisitive business in Nottinghamshire, who are looking to appoint a Group Accountant in a newly-created position.
This person will oversee the accurate and timely preparation of financial reports and statements. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining financial integrity, and providing insightful analysis to support decision-making. If you have a strong background in financial reporting, and a passion for driving excellence, this could be the role for you.
Key responsibilities for the Group Accountant role:
Lead the technical accounting function, including researching and interpreting complex accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS) and assessing their impact on financial reporting and business operations.
Provide guidance and support on accounting treatment for significant transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, investments, and divestitures.
Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and ensure timely adoption across the organisation.
Partner with cross-functional teams to assess the accounting implications of new business initiatives and strategic projects.
Review financial statements and disclosures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
Support external audits and regulatory examinations by providing technical accounting expertise and documentation.
Qualifications and requirements of the position:
Must be either ACA or ACCA qualified
Proven experience in technical accounting
Strong understanding of IFRS16, with the ability to apply technical accounting principles to complex business transactions.
Experience with private equity-backed companies and familiarity with relevant accounting issues and considerations.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to research and interpret accounting guidance effectively.
Proven ability to communicate complex accounting concepts clearly and concisely to non-accounting stakeholders.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams.
