DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
The Accounting and Finance team plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of all financial transactions for FSM and the summarizing, analyzing and reporting of those transactions to our parent company, regulators and tax collection entities. Responsibilities extend to payroll, treasury, tax and compliance and risk management. In addition, the department is dedicated to working with all business and department leaders on financial reporting and controls, setting strategies through budgeting and forecasting, analyzing key operating indicators and trends, and ensuring proper oversight of FSM's financial resources.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Assistant Controller will serve as a key member of Fenway Sports Management finance team with direct responsibilities for calculating and recording significant and complex financial transactions according to GAAP, preparing, consolidating and ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial reports, and providing expertise in technical review and audit support. This candidate will be responsible for maintaining internal control compliance and policies and also for utilizing their expertise in the creation of detailed presentations, dashboards and data analysis. This position will also contribute to establishing and maintaining internal audit processes and reporting details for budget and forecast updates.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Assisting the controller in preparation of timely monthly and annual financial statements, forecasts and budgets according to GAAP; reporting variances and preparing business metrics.
Assisting with annual audits, and researching technical accounting issues for compliance
Develop and maintain account reconciliations for balance sheet and expense costs used for internal and external audits
Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting by routinely updating processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Reviewing all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost-reduction opportunities
Assist in all periodic closing processes, ensuring transactions are GAAP and internal policy compliant
Build Organization & Department Reporting to demonstrate KPI's, Trends, and insights through data analysis
Create presentations and dashboards for analysis review
Prepare 606 revenue recognition memos and schedules
Maintain data for multifaceted commission schedules
Manage contract & sales commission
Generate routine and ad hoc reporting for business units by consolidating data from multiple sources including real time support of marketing team efforts
Support new system implementations schedule for 2025

CHARACTERISTICS / QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree Required in Accounting or Finance required; CPA Preferred
Minimum 2+ years' financial audit experience required
Minimum 6+ total years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a high-performing organization
Previous experience as a senior staff accountant, financial analyst, or similar role with substantial audit and full-cycle accounting experience a must
In-depth understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Advanced Excel Skills required (Dashboards, Complex lookups, Data Conversion, Pivot Tables, Financial Modeling, etc.)
Advanced PowerPoint skills required
Strong analytical skills with heightened attention to detail and accuracy while effectively able to meet deadlines
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Highly motivated to continuously learn and improve accounting and system processes
Superb written and verbal communication skills along with extraordinary internal and external customer service skills
Working knowledge of modular accounting platforms and databases. Net Suite experience a plus
Salesforce or CRM experience a plus
