We are looking for a Head of Finance to develop and implement our strategy, policies and procedures across Marston Holdings Ltd.’s Shared Services.
Marston Holdings Limited is a parent company formed of eight brand entities that each specialise in key areas of our overarching business. In a nutshell, we are the UK's largest judicial services company and pioneers in clean air technology, offering services that support local and central government, utilities, and private sectors through the delivery of market leading integrated technology-enabled solutions from design and implementation to management and recovery.
As the Head of Finance Shared Services, you will lead a centralised finance function with a team of circa 40, overseeing finance shared services for the entire organisation. This strategic role involves optimising financial processes, driving efficiency, and ensuring consistent financial practices across various departments. The Head of Finance Shared Services will be responsible for managing a team, implementing best practices, and contributing to the overall financial success of the organisation.

As the Head of Finance Shared Services, you will lead a centralised finance function with a team of circa 40, overseeing finance shared services for the entire organisation. The Head of Finance Shared Services will be responsible for managing a team, implementing best practices, and contributing to the overall financial success of the organisation.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the finance shared services team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Oversee the delivery of centralised finance services to various departments within the organization.
- Management of 5 direct reports (AP, AR, Client Cash, Systems and Payroll)
- Evaluate and optimize financial processes within shared services
- Implement best practices for financial transaction processing, reporting, and compliance.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis to provide insights for decision-making and process improvement.
- Actively support the group finance team and group financial controller in the annual audit cycle, ensuring timely delivery
- Collaborate with various departments to understand their financial service needs and challenges.
- Establish and manage SLAs for finance shared services, ensuring compliance with agreed-upon service levels.
- Regularly review and enhance service delivery processes to meet organizational requirements.
- Monitor performance metrics and KPIs, ensuring service levels are consistently met
- Develop and mentor the finance shared services team, fostering continuous learning and skill development.
- Ensure the team's adherence to financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology for process automation and efficiency within finance shared services
Person specification
- Fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA), with a Bachelor’s degree
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Commitment to local and regional travel
- Confident in the use of Excel
- Experience working with finance systems (D365 and/or TM1 is desirable)
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels internally, and externally
- Strong business planning and analysis skills
- Experience of overseeing group finance processes
