Duties & Responsibilities
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:

To conduct comprehensive identification of all key operational risks in allocated Business units and provide guidance on mitigation to ensure compliance that align to TFS operational risk frameworks and policies. The preferred candidate should possess strong active Operational Risk experience.

>Execute on the op risk strategy through tactical actions.
  • Tactical Actions as per the tracking sheet.

>Track and report on progress towards achieving the op risk strategy at defined intervals (i.e. 6 months)
  • Progress measured as per the tracking sheet.

>Proactively identify and anticipate risks (including emerging risks);
  • PRCIA workshops
  • Manage and monitor risks as per PRCIA.
  • Update the PRCIA (risk registers) as per policy.

>Identify risks associated with critical handovers interdependencies between business areas.
  • Manage and monitor risks as per PRCIA.
  • Update the PRCIA (risk registers) as per policy.

>Work with relevant IT, legal, regulatory, business resilience, fraud, information, physical security risk specialists to ensure comprehensive identification of all key operational risks.
  • Engage with BU's monthly.
    • Prepare BU for the Risk meeting and communicate potential risk activities.

>Assist business to identify risks inherent key business processes, new products, business projects and key outsourced and insourced arrangements and critical third-party service providers.

>Implement operational risk control monitoring plan - with focus on monitoring key controls based on key risks, identified operational risk themes, management needs and agreed combined assurance areas of focus.
  • Draft a QC report, do sample testing percentage according to charter.
    • Metrics on 5% sample
    • Show evidence of number of deals, types of customers, trend analysis and report quality.

>Feedback results of monitoring activities to enhance operational risk control environment.
  • Feedback report for every monitoring activity.

>Implement and adapt FirstRand operational risk frameworks and policies for the business in a practical and effective way.
  • ID policies that available to include in TFS framework.
  • Create applicable min standards.
  • Submit for review and commentary.
  • Upload onto approved templates.

>Advise on risk mitigation solutions.
  • Manage and monitor risks as per PRCIA.
  • Update the PRCIA (risk registers) as per policy.

>Proactively engage with management on key risks matters.
  • Engage with BU's monthly.

>Prepare BU for the Risk meeting and communicate potential risk activities.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Experience Required

At least 3 to 5 years business experience in a Sales /Operations preferably in a financial institution

Minimum Qualification

Appropriate undergraduate degree (e.g. B. Com / Law / Engineering) or Postgraduate qualification or Certification in Risk Management

Internal Auditing certification will be advantageous

Preferred Qualification

B degree with Specialisation in Law
