We attract and reach a wide buying demographic of first-time buyers, growing families, single homeowners and those looking to downsize. Gleeson Land specialises in land promotion, securing attractive residential planning consents on land mainly in the South of England, which ultimately helps to provide new homes in areas where housing need is high.
Due to continued rapid growth across the business, a fantastic for a Group Tax Manager has arose. This role reports to the Group Financial Controller as part of a highly skilled and professional Finance team. This key role will be responsible for the management of Group taxes and the tax control environment.

Main
Responsibilities:
- Developing and maintaining tax accounting procedures and controls for the Group
- Working with external tax advisers to ensure the Group is tax compliant in all areas
- Project leadworking with external tax advisers on areas such as:
- VAT / CIS / Payroll taxes health checks
- Land remediation relief claims
- Corporation tax for accounts and returns
- Reviewing and submitting CIS and VAT returns
- Maintaining up-to-date SAO certification and tax strategy
- Ensuring best practice tax reporting and disclosures
- Main point of contact for tax queries across the Group
- Developing and delivering tax training to the business
- Ad hoc projects / analysis as required
The Ideal Candidate:
Key Skills:
- Strong communication skills - ability to communicate tax information in a meaningful way to a range of stakeholders
- Self-motivated to help drive the tax agenda for the Group, take ownership for the tax work and manage own workload to hit deadlines
- Project management skills - lead tax projects, including coordination with other departments outside Finance
- Attention to detail and quality - drive a high-quality culture at all times as part of a of a highly motivated, professional finance team
Candidate Profile:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CTA)
- 3-5 years of tax experience
- Would suit a first-time mover from practice into industry
- Knowledge of VAT in housebuilding context would be helpful
