Role
To assist in the preparation of corporate tax returns and computations and management of the corporation tax compliance process. The Corporation Tax Analyst will provide support in tax compliance and advisory tasks, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of services under the guidance of senior staff.
Main
Responsibilities:
1. Tax Compliance Support:
• Assist in the preparation of corporation tax computations and returns for a designated portfolio of clients.
• Support the corporation tax compliance cycle, including tracking and managing filing and payment deadlines.
• Integrate with the audit process where necessary to assist in preparing tax provisions and disclosures for statutory accounts.
• Use tax software (e.g., Alphatax) to prepare and generate tax returns and computations, with training provided as needed.
2. Client Liaison:
• Communicate with clients to gather necessary information for tax compliance and to respond to routine tax queries.
• Prepare draft correspondence to clients concerning their tax affairs, under the supervision of senior staff.
3. HMRC Interaction:
• Assist in preparing responses to HMRC enquiries into clients' tax matters.
• Liaise with HMRC on routine and general client matters, ensuring professional communication.
4. Training and Development:
• Actively engage in learning opportunities, including training on tax software and compliance procedures.
• Participate in internal training sessions and presentations to develop technical tax knowledge.
5. Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with the Corporation Tax team to deliver high-quality tax services.
• Provide support to other junior staff as needed, sharing knowledge and helping to develop their skills.
6. Involvement in Advisory Projects:
• Assist in the initial stages of tax advisory projects, providing research and analysis as required.
• Identify potential tax planning opportunities and communicate these to senior staff for further development.
About You:
• Experience: At least one year of experience in a tax-related role, ideally with some exposure to corporation tax.
• Qualifications: Part-qualified ATT or similar qualification, with a commitment to further study (e.g., CTA).
• Technical Skills: Basic understanding of corporation tax compliance and related accounting principles.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in preparing tax returns and managing compliance records.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
• IT Skills: Competent in Microsoft Excel, Word, and tax software; experience with Alphatax is a plus but not required.
• Learning Mindset: Eager to learn and grow within the tax field, with a proactive approach to professional development.
