Constructive Bio is a VC-backed biotechnology startup based in Whittlesford, Cambridge. Our breakthrough technology harnesses the power of genome rewriting and genetic code reprogramming to make valuable products that positively impact the world. We will use our platform to turn cells into bio-renewable factories for the production of novel molecules that were previously inaccessible to natural biology, with diverse uses in industries spanning healthcare, biological research, materials and electronics.

Key

responsibilities:


Accounting

  • Oversee work of the accounting clerk.
  • Ensure that the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements are completed on a timely basis and in accordance with UK GAAP, including review of monthly journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Supervise billing/invoicing operations, banking operations, and payroll.
  • Lead the external audit, tax reporting and insurance activities.
  • Stay up to date with changes in accounting compliance and technical requirements that affect the organization and implement them accordingly.


Financial Planning and Reporting

  • Publish monthly the company financial statements for the CEO, acting CFO and major investors.
  • Provide actual versus budget analysis and reporting, forecasts and outlook, scenario planning, and financial reporting for our Board of Directors.
  • Contribute to the multi-year strategic financial planning and annual budget setting
  • Support any financial modeling exercises including ad hoc analysis and reporting, analysis of revenue, gross margins, and cash forecasting.


Policies, Systems and Processes
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Maintain strong internal controls for key processes.
  • Co-administration of the procurement and employee reimbursement applications.


Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a similar field.
  • Professional certification such as ACCA, ACA, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge in accounting principles, financial analysis, budgeting, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Competent user of finance software (ideally Xero) and Excel modelling techniques/skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities and team management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative, with strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable working in a small team in a rapidly growing business and keen to participate in a range of cross-functional project teams to broaden your knowledge of the business.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards and high levels of integrity.
