Job Description
NXTGEN are supporting a Top 50 accountancy firm in Peterborough in their search for an Audit Assistant following a period of business wins. This Audit Assistant role is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to continue with their accountancy studies whilst also working with a varied client portfolio. You'll also work and be supported by a talented team with a clearly defined progression plan in place for the successful candidate. The Audit Assistant will take on a mixed position which will see you support with both client audits as well as client accounts preparation, allowing the post holder to develop a wide range of skills. As Audit Assistant, you will support across a range of SME and larger corporate audits, gaining exposure to some complex consolidation issues. Outside of Audit, you will have the opportunity to work with smaller clients on their year end accounts filings and tax returns, working with business owners to resolve any outstanding queries that they may have. Key responsibilities of the role will include:
  • Support the planning and delivery of on site client audits, liaising directly with the client as required
  • Preparation of smaller client year end accounts and corporate tax submissions
  • Review team members work before submission of completed files
  • Lead on site audit engagement when acting as the audit senior

The successful candidate will ideally be studying towards a recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) or will be in the latter stages of their AAT with a desire to go onto further study. You will have prior experience working in an accountancy practice, ideally within Audit. Any previous experience working within a client facing capacity would be highly desirable but not essential. As the role develops you can expect to also support the new graduate intake/trainees with their ongoing personal and professional development too. The salary offered for this role is available dependant on experience and qualification.
