Our client is a rapidly growing retailer with over 170 stores in the UK and a growing Online, Concessions and International business. They have ambitious plans for further growth across both the UK & International markets, and are well known for their customer centric approach, ethics, and fantastic range of innovative products.
Due to expansion, they are now looking for a Finance Analyst to be out of their Amersham offices, with six days per calendar month home working. As a key member of the Commercial Finance team, you will play an essential role in assisting the Finance Manager throughout the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) cycle. This includes working on the annual budget, regular re-forecasting, and long-term strategic planning. You will manage current financial models and reporting, while also helping to innovate new analytical methods. Additionally, you will support the Finance Manager with their business partnering responsibilities, particularly in analysing commercial opportunities and strengthening relationships with various departments across the business.
Finance Analyst - Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and updating of the company's budget, regular forecasts, and long-term strategic plans
- Collaborate on month-end closing activities by analysing the variances between actual results and budgeted/forecast figures
- Monitor and report on the financial performance of projects and capital expenditures to ensure they are within the approved budget and on track to deliver expected returns
- Keep track of all purchase orders, ensuring accurate and timely processing, while monitoring their impact on budgets and financial reporting
- Produce daily sales forecasts based on recent trends, historical data, and market insights to help the business plan effectively and optimise sales strategies
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive weekly trade reports that capture key sales, margin, and inventory metrics. Provide insights into performance trends and highlight any areas of concern
- Develop and maintain KPI reports that track the company's performance across multiple areas, presenting findings to stakeholders to inform decision-making
- Perform additional financial analysis and reporting as needed to support ongoing business needs, such as evaluating new business opportunities, competitor analysis, or market trends
Finance Analyst - Required Skills
- Previous experience gained within a fast-paced similar role, preferably within the FMCG, retail, leisure or hospitality sectors
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel (Advanced Level), Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Able to work with large data sets while maintaining accuracy and identifying discrepancies
- Strong ability to communicate financial insights clearly and work effectively across different teams and departments.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritising responsibilities under tight deadlines, and performing well under pressure
- Skilled at breaking down complex financial data into actionable insights
- Strong understanding of retail business operations and the ability to connect financial data to business strategy.
The Finance Analyst role offers the chance to add immediate value with your skillset in a rapidly growing and evolving business. This will be both an incredibly demanding and rewarding position as the company scales. They have an envious position, to be partnering with some of the biggest & most reconisible brands on the UK high street. As one of only two analysts within the team, your skills will be massively beneficial, and you'll have the chance to shape and mould positive change. There may be occasional travel to partners sites, so a UK driving license is preferred although not essential for the role.
In return the role comes with a competitive base salary, profit bonus of up to 15%, various discounts and an early finish Friday.
If you would enjoy being part of our clients on-going success-story then apply now to be considered for their Financial Analyst role.
