The Details

This role sits in the Central team within Commercial Finance. We are responsible for collating, reviewing and supporting Commercial Finance across all their deadlines, namely, month-end, Commercial Finance risks and opportunities, short-term cashflow submission and any budget or reforecasting process. We should have knowledge across all areas (gross profit, warehouse, distribution and marketing) but be an expert within gross profit, fully understanding how the P&L lines interact with one another and being able to challenge any unusual reporting. The team works incredibly closely with wider finance, especially FP&A so excellent communication skills are a necessity. The team is also responsible for the business variable contribution model, as well as our profit model, allowing the business to deep-dive into data with our support as business partners.

What you'll be doing:
  • Manage the monthly process of reporting on gross profit, working closely with both our FA and FP&A teams to meet bridging deadlines and be able to confidently communicate the story of actuals versus budget.
  • Oversee and review the fortnightly risk and opportunity process, ensuring these have been correctly recorded and being able to challenge the various team's inputs.
  • Manage the fortnightly cash review process for Commercial Finance, leading the manager review session and communicating outputs with FP&A.
  • Produce weekly reporting on our variable contribution, owning the associated models and ensuring deadlines are met with the Finance Analyst on the team.
  • Responsible for producing our weekly tactical variable contribution view, working closely with Global and other Commercial Finance stakeholders.
  • Responsible for setting timetables across a budget/ forecast process as well as owning various gross profit inputs.
  • Assist in the review of Commercial Finance's budget proposal, challenging the various P&L lines.
  • Understand how our various P&L lines link to one another to assist in the creation of models and review documentation.
  • Support the Finance Analyst in the team throughout all of the above areas, ensuring continuous knowledge sharing.
  • Be a central point of contact across finance for all queries, knowing a good level of detail across all Commercial Finance areas from the monthly processes in place, and also having excellent relationships to bring stakeholders into any problem areas.
  • Continuously look to improve and question existing ways of working and being flexible to changes in approach.
  • Support the Finance Manager in any ad-hoc pieces of work.
