Credit Controller - Stourport on Severn - £26,000-£28,000
Job Purpose:
The Credit Controller will be responsible for managing the company's debtors, ensuring timely payments, and reducing the risk of bad debts. The role involves closely monitoring customer accounts, following up on overdue payments, and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. The Credit Controller is key to ensuring the company’s cash flow remains strong and financial health is maintained.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
* Manage customer accounts: Monitor outstanding balances, ensure timely collection of payments, and proactively chase overdue accounts.
* Follow up on overdue payments: Use phone calls, emails, and letters to ensure payments are made, resolving any issues preventing payment.
* Allocate payments: Accurately allocate incoming payments to the correct customer accounts and invoices.
* Reduce debtor days: Actively work to reduce debtor days and improve cash flow.
* Prepare regular reports: Generate reports on debtor status, aged debtors, overdue accounts, and payment trends.
* Forecast cash flow: Provide input into cash flow forecasts by predicting incoming payments based on customer payment history.
* Handle customer queries: Respond to and resolve any queries relating to invoices or payments in a timely and professional manner.
* Collaborate with clients: Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients to facilitate prompt payment and resolve any issues that arise.
* Legal proceedings: Work with external legal teams to take legal action where necessary to recover outstanding debts.
* Debt recovery: Collaborate with debt collection agencies when required.
Experience and Qualifications:
* Experience: Previous experience in a credit control, accounts receivable, or finance role (1-3 years minimum).
* Qualifications: A degree or qualification in finance, accounting, or a related field (desirable).
* Knowledge: Familiarity with credit management and debt recovery processes, as well as relevant legal frameworks.
