Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant handles various aspects of accounting for the Health center. As such, having direct responsibility for maintaining general ledger accounts, administering and processing Accounts Receivable, preparing journal entries and posting to the General Ledger, cash accounting including receipts and bank reconciliation, and producing variousaccounting and financial reports. The Staff Accountant will apply generally accepted accounting principles that include analytical work and thorough review of financial records.

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
Assist the CFO with the day to day, monthly and yearly operations of the Finance Department including grant management and budget review and analysis. Perform the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions and ensure that all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance with Finance policies and procedures. Prepared and reviews government grant invoices and collated supporting documentation for submission or payment to government agencies. Reviews reconciliations to ensure they are prepared properly and follows-up on any unusual items. Manages employee AMEX accounts and charges. Performs general account analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, benefit costs, accruals and expenses. Assists in the preparation of financial reports as requested. Manages petty cash account. Work with the billing department for accurate posting of receipts to the accounting system. Requirements:

Abilities:
Team player and can collaborate with other groups within the organization. Ability to communicate effectively and develop rapport with patients, insurance representatives to obtain payment of bills. Ability to manage time and work independently. Ability to manage and train staff. Demonstrate a proficient level of professional skill and knowledge in accounting and keep current with developments and trends.
Equipment Operated:
Wide range of standard office equipment. Computer use and proficiency required.
Work Environment:
Reception area in large health center waiting room, medical offices in Health Center. Controlled lighting, air quality, and temperature settings. Environmental hazards may be unpredictable including exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
Involves standing, walking, kneeling, bending, grasping, manipulating and squatting and lifting (up to 50 pounds). Walking or standing may be more than two (2) hours per day. Must be able to work in a standard medical office setting including use of a computer, and standard office equipment. Must have ability to read computer screens, printed materials and hearing and speech to communicate in person as well as over the phone. Must be able to attend meetings at various sites when required. Stress can be triggered by workload.

Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting.
- Three years of related Accounting experience required. Financial experience with a non-profit organization preferred.
- Computer proficiency with QuickBooks, Outlook, Word, Excel required.
- High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
- Highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.
