Welgevonden Game Reserve, one of the country's leading game reserves in the Limpopo Province, seeks to find a suitably qualified Accountant to join their team.
Job purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the accounting function of the Game Reserve by ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting the Financial Manager. This role requires interaction with various stakeholders and Reserve Management, and overseeing a small team of staff.

Minimum education (required)
- BCom degree with accounting as the main subject
- Completed articles are favourable
Minimum applicable experience (required)
- 4+ years' experience in an accountancy role
Required nature of experience (required)
- Solid experience in reconciliations, asset registers, journals, and bookkeeping
- Management reporting experience is essential
- Understanding of auditing is advantageous
- Experience managing a small team of staff
Required competencies
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities
- Proficiency in accounting software
- Ability to implement procedures and communicate effectively
- Comfortable working in a multi-departmental and dynamic environment
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete accounting function, including reconciliations, journal entries, and maintaining asset registers
- Oversee and review bookkeeping work completed by the team
- Guide the month-end process and ensure timely completion
- Provide training and support to subordinate staff
- Assist the Financial Manager with monthly VAT and payroll preparation
- Review forecasting completed by managers and resolve queries related to actual results for completed months
- Prepare monthly management reports
- Assist in budget preparation, annual audits, and the preparation of annual financial statements
