Futures Without Violence (FUTURES) is a national non-profit and social change organization that works to end violence against women and children in US and around the world. We’re a team of educators, strategists, trainers and grassroots organizers who advocate for policies and develop programs that can change social norms, prevent domestic violence and create the conditions and experiences that children and adults need to heal and thrive.
In 2026, FUTURES will open the Courage Museum (CM), the nation’s first immersive learning center dedicated to the prevention of hate, discrimination, and violence, with a focus on civic engagement. Located at FUTURES’s headquarters in San Francisco’s Presidio National Park, the Museum will serve as a local and national resource for individuals and communities to learn about causes, impacts, and solutions to creating homes, schools, and communities that are equitable and safe.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
A key member of FUTURES Operations team and plays a critical role in the CM financial management and FUTURES operations and risk management.
This position reports to the CFO/COO and will be based at the headquarters.
**Due to COVID-19, FUTURES is requiring employees to provide proof of full vaccination. This position will be onsite at least 2 days per week based on FUTURES’ current hybrid work policy.**
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Museum Finance
- Establish, manage chart of accounts for the CM, and assists with maintenance of master chart of accounts.
- Works closely with Accounting to ensure accuracy of accounting records for the CM Monitor CM’s financials (construction and operations) and prepare monthly summary of cash balances, financial statements and analysis reports.
- Monitor activities for incoming donations, membership, ticket and merchandise sales, and inventory
- Responsible for sales tax withholding and reporting in compliance with state, local, and federal regulations Responsible for managing and improving all aspects of the Fixed Assets tracking and reporting.
- Assist with annual audits and schedules
Internal Control
- Partnering closely with Finance, IT, HR, CM and others to ensure that processes and roles are aligned to support the FUTURES’ rapid growth.
- Monitor and update on a continual basis the assessment of the control environment, proactively advise management on key risk areas and drive remediation plans balancing risk mitigation with programmatic processes.
- Ensure appropriateness of internal control documentation for financial processes, operations, HR and ITGC’s, including planning documentations, narratives, process maps, walkthroughs, and test of controls
- Monitor treasury integration efforts in partnership with CM, development, and finance stakeholders.
Cost Accounting
- Own cost allocation framework for labor, depreciation, service center charges, and operational overhead
- Perform detailed cost analysis and provide insights into trends and cost-saving opportunities
- Maintain and review the standard costing methodology and rates and ensure alignment with the current process and accounting standards; analyze variances and update standard costs periodically.
- Manage the process of inventory valuation, ensuring it complies with relevant accounting standards and company policies; analyze inventory levels, costs, and valuations to provide accurate financial reporting
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required. CPA strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of Accounting experience in a non-profit organization or museum preferred
- Proficient with accounting software (Blackbaud desirable) and budgeting systems
- Deep understanding of GAAP and accounting principles related to inventory and cost accounting.
- Strong understanding of IT risks and controls and their overall impact to financial control environments.
- Prior experience working with treasury automation processes leveraging technology desirable

SALARY/BENEFITS:
This is a full-time exempt position. The annual salary is 125,000. FUTURES offers excellent medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus tax-advantaged Flexible Spending Arrangements for Health Care and Dependent Care.
