What you are going to be doing.The Junior Accountant role has a broad remit, where you will be expected to pitch in across a number of different tasks and activities. However, in a normal month you should expect to spend most of your time on:
Processing Daily Bank Reconciliations: including allocation of all receipts and payments to the correct customer and supplier accounts on a timely basis, investigate receipts and payments with no details, as well as following up on dishonoured receipts.
Maintaining and Posting Journals: posting journals for accruals, prepayments, reclassifications, and adjustments.
Capitalised Projects and Customer Job Costing: project set-up, maintenance of users, general ledger cost coding, maintaining budgets & statements of work, processing of capitalisation timesheet entries, reporting, and assisting with the preparation of customer billing.
Fixed Assets: recording, maintaining, depreciation runs, and reporting for both accounting and tax.
Month End Responsibilities: standard monthly accruals, timesheet posting, customer project revenue and other revenue accruals, internal capitalisations and work in progress, fixed assets reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations for general ledger accounts.
Accounts Receivable: Processing of master file updates to maintain the accuracy of customer details, process billing files and managing the sending of invoices to customers. Assist with debt collection activities and reporting of monthly evaluations of overdue accounts and the aged trial balance.
Payment Transfers: Investigating, confirming and executing merchant account payment transfers to maintain the integrity of the merchant debtors ledger.
Disconnection and Write-off Processes: assist with the disconnection of customers from our products and the processing of account balance write-offs.
GST and FBT: assist with return preparation and reconciliation.
Statistics NZ reports: assist with various quarterly and other filings.
Credit Card and Expense Management: assist with maintenance of users and general ledger codes, troubleshooting errors and training staff.
Financial Analysis: analyse revenue and expense accounts as directed for integrity and the identification of anomalous transactions.
Carry out any other duties within the Finance department that may be delegated from time to time. What you can expect from your team:The Finance team at Worldline is small, nimble, and efficient. We are a team of 8 made up of transaction processing specialists and chartered accountants who have a unique blend of backgrounds but are all united by wanting to do the very best for Worldline's customers, suppliers, and employees. We operate a flat structure here at Worldline where everyone works together to achieve the best outcomes for our colleagues and our customers. There will be a high level of data entry and processing involved in the beginning of this job, but rest assured there will be plenty of opportunities on the horizon for you to develop too. What you will bring with you: · Entry level experience of accounting activities, working towards a recognised professional qualification· Strong computer skills with proficiency in Excel and Microsoft products· Happy to do manual data entry as part of their ongoing role· Excellent attention to detail and meticulous organisation skills, · The ability to adapt easily to new systems and processes· Resourcefulness to query the why and how of processes· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills· A team player who can work autonomously when required· Sense of humour with a positive outlook and great attitude· Flexible and willing approach.
