Background:

For close to 170 years the Canterbury Jockey Club (CJC) has been at the forefront of New Zealand racing, conducting some of the most prestigious races in the country. Riccarton Park conducts 31 race days each season with the highlight being the New Zealand Cup Meeting in November.

Of equal importance Riccarton Park is a versatile Events Centre renowned for excellence. On non-race days Riccarton Park provides the widest range of social and business events.

We are now on the hunt for an experienced Business Services Manager to join the team. We believe this role represents a great opportunity for someone who has experience in the hospitality space. Racing industry experience isn't a necessity but a hands on approach certainly is.

Key Responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting the CEO in the preparation of the annual business plan.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and reports up to board level.
  • Budgeting & cashflow management.
  • Responsible for the effective management and delivery of Information Management and Communication Technology within the organisation.
  • Compliance & statutory reporting.
  • Staff management & development.
  • Project work, analysis, review and recommendation.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, accountancy, or a related field (preferred but not essential)
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior financial role and a proven track record of strong technical competence and leadership.
  • Prior experience in developing and implementing systems and procedures that create efficiencies.
  • A flexible approach to work.
  • Be a strong systems user preferably with Xero experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
