The Team and Job Summary

J.S. Held is searching for a Director to join our newly created EMEA Forensic Accounting (Disputes and Investigations) practice based out of London covering the UK/EMEA region. Our EMEA Forensic Accounting practice is at an exciting stage of accelerated growth.

We are seeking an experienced hands-on Forensic Accounting Director (equivalent to manager) to play an active part in supporting and helping grow our practice in the UK and EMEA. Reporting into the recently appointed Forensic Accounting Senior Managing Director, the ideal candidate will have a demonstrable track record in leading teams, supporting business development and delivering technical expertise on large and complex projects. The ideal candidate will provide expert-level guidance, utilizing both technical and business diagnostic skills on all areas of forensic accounting and disputes/investigations management to clients across industries, geographies and organizational structures.

Job Responsibilities

As a Director, you will:

  • Manage complex and high-profile accounting disputes and investigations;
  • Supervise more junior team member's analyses;
  • Work on behalf of law firms, corporates, regulators, governments and high net-worth individuals;
  • Manage medium sized teams, being involved in applying forensic accounting and investigative skills on complex client matters;
  • Perform and supervise day-to-day activities on projects and business development initiatives - interacting with client personnel and other team members;
  • Perform accounting and financial analysis helping to assist clients with analyzing and documenting complex investigative issues;
  • Support the collation of information to facilitate effective data access, compilation and interrogation/analysis;
  • Perform industry and company research using online tools and publicly available information, assist in preparing reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties,
  • Apply forensic accounting, financial and analytical skills on complex client matters;
  • Review and evaluate detailed financial statements and financial data (statements of revenue and expense, forecasts & budgets, production reports, etc.) in order to create a comprehensive analysis;
  • Review detailed invoices and purchase orders, organize supporting documentation, and input data to track costs incurred. Maintain detailed working papers and records.
  • Assist in inputting financial data and organizing large amounts of financial data - both paper and electronic to be used in review;
  • Communicate results of analysis to supervisors and/or clients;
  • Assist in the preparation of written reports and written narratives to be sent to clients.
  • Attend client meetings (telephone, online, or in-person) and communicate findings in meetings to clients and other team members.


Required Qualifications

  • Any degree discipline;
  • Experience in audit, forensic accounting, internal audit, public accounting experience or closely related field.
  • Have experience in managing engagements and teams;
  • ACA, ACCA or equivalent international accountancy qualification;
  • Candidates must be resourceful, critical thinkers, and take initiative;
  • Strong aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis;
  • Candidates must have strong analytical and issue resolution skills, appetite for problem solving;
  • Ability to interface with team members, client staff and be adapt to deadline-driven situations;
  • Strong team working, passion for business development, strong Excel skills with ability to do VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and advanced formulas;
  • Substantial experience audit and forensic accounting;
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.

  • Ability to travel as needed, depending on project assignments
