Job Description
A retail business in Malton are looking for a Part-Time Finance Manager to join them on a permanent basis. Salary is up to £55,000 (pro-rata) for this role which is circa 32 hours per week, over 4 to 5 day. Alongside salary, benefits include attractive work hours to suit the individual, friendly team and employee discount.

Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the Finance Director, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s finance function. You will get involved in the day to day transactional duties, alongside the production of monthly management accounts and monitoring forecasts and budgets.

As Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include:
  • Prepare and maintain the weekly cash flow forecast including FX currency forecasting.
  • Monitor and report on departmental forecasts and budgets on a monthly basis.
  • Carry out periodic cost saving reviews as appropriate.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts to trial balance in line with company deadlines.
  • Regularly monitor and review actual performance and position against budgeted/forecasted.
  • Prepare annual file for external accountants to backup all trial balance numbers, as well as monthly prepayments and accruals.
  • Make sure all supplier invoices are entered on the accounting system accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Carry out daily reconciliation of sales revenue streams from the order management system.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliation.
  • Ensure internal financial controls are in place to safeguard the business assets especially around debtors, cash and stock.
  • Prepare weekly supplier payment runs for authorisation by the Managing Director.
  • Ensure the business benefits from maximum early payment supplier discounts.
  • Fixed asset register maintenance.
  • Submit monthly payroll information to payroll bureau and oversee processing.
  • Quarterly VAT returns and other periodic HMRC submissions.
  • Oversee tax and regulatory compliance.
  • Effectively provide support to all teams within the business in respect to financial matters and the stock and accounting system.
  • Manage relationships with bankers, external accountants, insurance broker, property agents and IT suppliers and provide information as requested.
  • Other duties, as requested.

To be successful in this Finance Manager role, you will ideally:
  • Hold an accounting qualification of ACA, CIMA or ACCA or be part qualified, or be qualified by experience (QBE).
  • Have knowledge of using accountancy software such as Xero, Sage etc. with the capability to be able to learn new systems and processes quickly.
  • Have experience of CRM, order fulfilment, stock and accounting systems, as well as advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with colleagues at all levels, incuding external stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Be a team player with excellent work ethic, and possess a positive, “can do” attitude.
