The Role:
The Chief of Staff, Commercial Division, will be responsible for serving as:
- An air traffic controller for the Group Chief Commercial Officer (Group CCO), liaising directly with the Commercial Leadership Team (CLT), and members of the executive committee.
- An integrator, connecting work streams that would otherwise remain siloed.
- A communicator linking the leadership team and the broader organization.
- An honest broker and truth teller when the leader needs a wide-ranging view that considers the perspectives of individuals, teams and the company at large and how to balance optimal outcomes for these different stakeholder groups.
- A confidant who can serve as an objective sounding board.
The role is based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitoring company commercial performance weekly and ensuring that hurdles are moved to achieve commercial objectives.
- Creating, updating and monitoring dashboards for the senior leadership team KPIs/OKRs.
- Own actions in case of serious customer escalations.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Group CCO and Regional Managing Directors.
- Work closely with members of senior leadership team to organize and align strategic priorities with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead annual/quarterly/monthly strategic planning and reviews for the business unit including improvements to performance and operational effectiveness.
- Own commercial leadership team engagements and other strategic cross-functional engagements.
- Provide a second opinion on issues, playing ‘devil's advocate'.
- When necessary and appropriate, represent the Group CCO or act on the Group CCO's behalf in strategic engagements.
- Crisis management as needed.
- Serve as an ‘early warning system' to signals from the environment, assess and, when appropriate, pass on to the leadership team.
- Support people related issues as required.
- Supporting the Group CCO with scheduling of personal calendar and any travel related administration.
- Setting key performance indicators to measure and improve team performance.
- Any other reasonable adhoc requests to support the overall commercial organisation.
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or IT related field
- MBA preferred.
- Experience in project management.
- Experience in the Fintech, MNO, Banking or Payments industries.

- Highly competent in the Microsoft suite, CRMs, and other enterprise tools.
