MERJE are partnered with a leading Building Society in their search for a talented ALM Manager with of focus on Market Risk.
About the role
An opportunity has arisen to join the Asset & Liability Management team in the Balance Sheet Control directorate as a specialist market risk manager. In this role you will be directly responsible for market risk appetite and policy as well as leading the market risk section of the Society's ICAAP as a subject matter expert while supporting others with your wealth of expertise. This role has no line management responsibility.
As a market risk specialist you'll be joining an established team and will drive improvements to, and understanding of, the risk management framework. This role would ideally suit someone with a strong IRRBB or market risk background who is looking to build on and share that knowledge while offering the opportunity to expand into other aspects of ALM. Market risk exposures extend to interest rates, credit spread and foreign exchange - held entirely within a banking book.
In this role you'll digest changes to the regulatory landscape and articulate what they mean for the organisation. Developing a strong knowledge of the balance sheet will be key to success in the role. In addition, you will champion a positive risk management culture and support others with your expertise.
Our ideal candidate:
You'll need in-depth knowledge of both internal and external market risk management metrics, such as NII, VaR, PV01, CSVaR and regulatory requirements coupled with:
Familiarity with banking book and financial market products, with a broad knowledge of finance and balance sheet management within an organisation.
Past experience of producing the market risk section of an ICAAP and taking it through a firm's governance.
Thought leadership in setting market risk appetite to ensure appropriate and timely escalation to decision makers.
Experience of defining and maintaining banking book structural hedging strategies.
Experience of developing existing policy to incorporate industry and regulatory change and ensuring firm-wide compliance.
The ability to deliver within tight deadlines, ensuring stakeholder engagement through the journey. Ensuring effective communication, engagement and influencing skills - demonstrating the ability to understand, define and articulate business requirements.
Excellent attention to detail, a pro-active attitude and continuous improvement mindset.
You'll be someone who is keen to help others learn and develop and, while not a people leader, you'll inspire colleagues across the ALM team to deliver great work.
