Summary of the Accounts Assistant role

As the Accounts Assistant you will work as part of a small finance team, reporting directly to the site Financial Controller based at our site in Deeside, North Wales. The option of hybrid working is available with this role, our standard working hours are 35 hours per week Monday-Friday.

You will be accountable for the delivery of timely and accurate raising of purchase orders and accounts transactional input to Deeside site deadlines. There will be a procurement element to the role also which will require building relationships with requesters and suppliers to ensure the best quality, service, delivery time and price are achieved. The accounts element of the role requires accountancy and analytical skills with an ability to check and challenge expenditure in the complex environment of biologic development and production.

Your responsibilities

  • Transferring ordering, delivery and invoice data between the Amici ordering system, Esker matching system and Sage 50 accounts system.
  • Processing expenses claims.
  • Reconciling credit card transactions.
  • Posting bank transactions and reconciling in Sage 50.
  • Evaluating all purchase order requests.
  • Challenge where necessary the requesters choice of supplier, cost and/or service.
  • Liaising with the requester, where necessary, to place the order with an approved supplier obtaining the best delivery time, service, quality and cost.
  • Placing orders with chosen supplier, confirming order is placed and delivery date with the requester.
  • Tracking orders where required for critical items.
  • Keeping an up to date purchase order tracker sheet detailing the order status.
  • Maintaining an approved supplier and material database and link it with PR forms and live warehouse stock sheet.
  • Liaise with procurement department at our Dudley facility and supplier to negotiate the best terms, cost, quality, delivery and service for Sterling Deeside.
  • Ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed and reported.
  • Collaborating with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
  • Reviewing all financial transactions regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities.
  • Creating systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations.
  • Check and challenge departmental spending.

Requirements for the role

  • Must have previous experience of working in a similar account's role.
  • Must be studying towards or be AAT qualified.
  • Sage line 50 experience would be preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate well with other departments within the business, enhancing the finance departments status as a business partner.
  • Able to work well as part of a team.
