As Financial Accountant, you'll play a key role within our Finance team working closely with and supporting the Head of Financial Reporting & Control and the Finance Director. You'll be a fundamental member of the wider Finance team, helping to achieve our operational objectives and ensuring that we deliver a high quality and cost-effective service to all stakeholders. This is a hybrid role with two days per week in our Swindon office. The benefits:
  • Salary - £45,00 - £50,000
  • Bonus scheme - on target bonus - 10%

Key accountabilities:
  • Supporting month end reporting process and subsequent analysis - leading the process for smaller subsidiaries.
  • Preparation of regulatory reporting and completion of returns for sign-off.
  • Preparation of quarterly VAT returns, quarterly Corporation Tax estimates and annual Corporation Tax computations.
  • Supporting the preparation of annual statutory accounts for the Group and seven subsidiaries.
  • Developing and maintaining strong Excel models within financial reporting that support best-in-class analytical reviews and audit testing requirements.
  • Leading the audit work of smaller subsidiaries.
  • Preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparation of MI packs for reporting to the Board and presentation of results at management committees.
  • Preparation of MI for debt committee and complaints provisioning group.
  • Creating and maintaining successful relationships with internal and external suppliers and customers.
  • Responding to ad-hoc queries relating to financial or regulatory reporting.
  • Line managing, coaching and mentoring two direct reports, ensuring they are well supported in all aspects of their work and development.


What will you need to succeed?

  • Qualified Accountant (ideally ACA, preferably Big 4) with +2 years PQE.
  • Experience of working in a financial accounting role within a large organisation.
  • Previous experience of Financial Services sector, knowledge of relevant legislation and regulation.
  • Experience of HMRC & FCA reporting.
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP experience and knowledge advantageous.
  • Strong people (team and stakeholder) management skills.
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Knowledge of operational cost base and projects financial management.
  • Professional manner; enthusiastic and positive attitude.
  • Highly motivated self-starter.
  • Flexible attitude; willing to support team members with cover and assistance.
  • Ability to build relationships with other business areas and external stakeholders.
  • Competent time management skills; able to prioritise, resource and plan workload; willing to take initiative.
