Are you an experienced public accountant eager to advance your career? We are currently seeking a dedicated and highly skilled professional with 2-3+ years of experience in public accounting to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with municipalities and government clients, possessing the expertise to navigate the unique financial challenges that come with public sector accounting.

As a public accountant specializing in government entities, you'll play a key role in providing audit and financial services, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advising on fiscal matters that impact local government operations. Your experience will be invaluable in helping our clients manage their financial reporting, budget planning, and ensure the highest standards of public accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide audit, tax, and advisory services to government and municipal clients, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Analyze complex financial reports, budgets, and data specific to public sector entities.
Offer strategic financial guidance, including internal control assessments and risk management.
Collaborate with internal teams to streamline accounting processes and improve service delivery to public clients.
Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
Assist municipalities with budget preparation, forecasting, and financial planning.
Conduct compliance audits and provide actionable insights to improve efficiency and accountability within government operations.

Key Qualifications:

2-3+ years of experience in public accounting, with a specific focus on working with municipalities and government entities.
Strong understanding of GAAP, GASB standards, and government-specific regulations.
Proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and auditing procedures related to public sector accounting.
Demonstrated experience in preparing and reviewing comprehensive annual financial reports (CAFRs).
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Strong communication skills for interacting with both internal teams and external government stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.

Work Schedule:

This position is fully on-site, with a Monday-Friday schedule in the Port Huron, MI area. General flexibility is provided, but applicants must be available to work full days during office hours to meet client and project deadlines. Some overtime may be required during busy seasons.
