Morson is collaborating with a Bury-based business to recruit a Payroll Team Leader on a permanent basis. As a key member of the Payroll team, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless payroll processing for our colleagues across the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Our goal is to deliver a first-class service that enables our colleagues to excel in their roles.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the payroll process for 35,000 colleagues across 43 payrolls, including 5 Offshore payrolls with monthly pay cycles.
  • Ensure the team meets critical deadlines and maintains high-quality standards.
  • Promote best practices and keep our colleagues at the centre of everything we do.
  • Provide training on payroll processing and legislative changes, monitor team performance, and support their professional development.
  • Identify trends in payroll queries and collaborate with key stakeholders to resolve issues at their source.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for guidance and support within the team and across the business.

About You:

Essential Skills:
  • Proven experience managing high-volume payrolls.
  • Strong understanding of payroll, benefits, and relevant legislation, with knowledge of offshore regulations being advantageous.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to ensure deadlines are met.
  • A people-centric approach with a commitment to team success.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills to simplify complex pay queries for colleagues and team members.

Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with SAP payroll software.
  • CIPP or similar accreditation.
  • Experience mentoring a large team.

  • Proven experience managing high-volume payrolls
  • Proficient with Payroll/HR Systems
  • Must be able to travel to Bury office 5 days a week
