Key Responsibilities:
Prepare Individual Tax Returns:
- Assist in the preparation of federal and state individual tax returns (Form 1040) for a diverse range of clients.
- Gather and analyze client financial data, including W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, and other relevant tax documents.
- Identify and apply deductions, credits, and tax-saving opportunities for clients.
- Communicate with clients to clarify tax-related questions and gather necessary documentation.
- Provide clients with information on tax deadlines and required documents for accurate and timely filing.
- Assist with the review and organization of client tax records to ensure compliance with IRS guidelines.
- Ensure individual tax filings are completed accurately and in accordance with federal and state tax laws.
- Assist with calculating and preparing quarterly estimated tax payments for clients when necessary.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current tax regulations and changes affecting individual taxpayers.
- Assist in researching tax issues and new tax legislation to support client needs.
- Support senior accountants in resolving tax-related inquiries from the IRS or state tax authorities.
- Prepare extensions and amendments for clients when needed.
- Participate in training sessions and stay informed on changes in tax laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Gain experience and develop expertise in preparing a variety of individual tax returns.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or in progress).
- Basic knowledge of tax preparation software and Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with IRS tax forms (1040, 1099, W-2) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Eagerness to learn and develop a career in tax accounting.
