We are seeking a talented, enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join the Financial Services team at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. The Capital Accountant will need to be CCAB or CIMA qualified with a strong background in capital accounting. The individual will ensure that capital and financial information is processed in accordance with procedures, through completion of their own work and through thecoordination of work done by others, ensuring that work is completed in line with financial timescales and legal requirements.
The Capital Accountant will provide support and assistance to the Assistant Director of Finance - Financial Services and the Assistant Director of Finance - Financial Planning. This is in relation to the planning, development, verification and monitoring of the Trust capital programme and capital cash flow and acting as the systems administrator for the Trusts Fixed Asset Register (CARS).Duties of the Capital Accountant will include the day to day management of the Trusts capital financial reporting system and the preparation and completion of statutory/NHS accounts and returns.
The post holder will be joining to be part of the Financial Services department, where in total there are 12 members of staff.
The Finance Directorate is currently working a hybrid model, with all staff expected to be in the office a minimum of two days per week.
Main duties of the job
As part of your duties, the post holder would be expected to:
• Effectively monitor and maintain the Fixed Asset Register (CARS).
• Ensure all capital planning and monitoring is undertaken and completed in line with financial timescales and legal requirements.
• Be responsible for compiling the Trusts monthly VAT balance sheet reconciliation and submission, ensuring that the Trust is compliant with VAT rules and regulations.
• Prepare papers and reports to the Capital Planning Group and for the local Integrated Care Board (ICB) and national returns.
• Be responsible for maintaining an accurate list of all leases and managed servicescontracts in line with IFRS 16 accounting.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
