The Candidate

• Previous experience working as a Management Accountant
• Fully qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA
• Experience of working in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in people management and managing a small team
• VAT compliance rules
• Legal responsibilities/accountabilities when processing accounts

The Role

• Prepare & review the management accounts, including variance analysis v's prior year and budget
• Compile the group reporting & local management information packs for review with the Director of Finance by 15th (submission to group 20th)
• Reconcile and take any corrective actions for all Balance sheet control accounts
• Ensure that the tasks per the Accounts check list are performed to the required timetable and take corrective actions where they are not
• Maintain accurate chart of accounts
• VAT - Completion and submission of the 3 VAT returns by the required deadline. Ensuring that these submissions reconcile to the Balance sheet control accounts and that the accuracy of the return is validated
• P11D's - Complete, submit and payment annually (move to payroll by 25/26)
• P32 - Balancing the P32 to the HMRC dashboard, escalating any variances with stakeholders and ensuring funds are sent within the required deadlines
• Government gateway - Manage the Government gateway and deal with/HMRC queries
• Ensure NEST and other pension submission are made timely and accurate
• Ensure that the weekly and monthly margin reports are issued on time and are accurate
• Reconcile the margin reports to the month end financial statements and highlight issues to the Operations team
• Monthly P&L reviews with the Department heads
• Customer profitability review
• Ensure that the customer agreements translate into the accounts correctly e.g. Rebates, spend allocation against rebates
• National Statistics reporting (Ad hoc)
• Prepare Monthly/Qtly Forecasts & Annual Budgets in conjunction with the D of F
• Prepare Short- and long-term cash flow forecasts
• Assist in the year end audit for areas covered by the role. Manage all information flows to ensure timescales are met.
• Strive for continuous improvement in all that we do.
• Managing employee headcount to the needs of the business (currently 2 to manage)
• Learning & Development, coaching and mentoring where required and including effective onboarding of new starters, ensuring relevant training plans are completed.
• Performance management - Conduct relevant performance meetings such as 121's, appraisals, probation reviews, disciplinaries, grievances and more, as and when required.
• Creating a high-performance culture in line with company values & policies, creating a culture of teamwork, setting goals and clear objectives, and promoting engagement initiatives.
• Being an advocate for good employee wellbeing, identifying wellbeing issues, offering support as and where needed, knowing what tools are available to assist and how to use them.
• Work with the other pillar leads to improve process and information flows
