Reference: JHB000041-SS-1Our client in Clayville, is looking to employ a Cost Accountant to join their team.The Cost accountant will be responsible to maintain financial control, cost analysis and sales analysis, managing accounts and staff, and ensure day-to-day activities.
Job Title: Cost Accountant Location: ClayvilleRemuneration: R420 000 per year depending on experience Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepare, analyse and report weekly, monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis by brand by customer typeAssist in month-end closing, prepare journalPrepare, analyse and report weekly, monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis by brand by customer typeAssist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyse inventory valuation, inventory roll forwardPrepare cost reporting analysis per product categoryCoordinate with IT department for system issues, maintenance and development such as production, accounts receivable.Assist in compliance with legislationAnalyse cost accounting data.Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controlsConverts data into value adding informationValue creation via data mining and interrogation.Review and analyse inventory and margin reportsWork in special projects as requiredSupport and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and othersEnsure timely submission, accuracy and validity of inventory, gross margin schedules to managementHighlighting problematic customers to ExcoSubmission of monthly provisionsPrepare and complete the monthly accounts receivable reportsAttend monthly Sales and credit alignment meetingsAttend monthly BCM consultation meetingsCalculate sales commissions for the sales payouts Experience and QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting/FinanceAbility to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 3 or more years of related experienceAbility to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting StandardsMust be able to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysisAbility to research, compile, analyse and interpret dataGood written, verbal communication and collaborative skillsProficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office productsAbility to analyse and reconcile complex accounts and reserves, variances and stock holdingImports analysis and product costingStrong organizational and communicational skillsDetail orientedKnowledge of SAGE 300 preferredApparel industry background preferredAbility to work independently under minimal supervision
