Role: Deputy Head of Pensions



Location:
Southeast

Contract Length: 6 months (minimum)

Rate: Negotiable P/D umbrella

I am working on behalf of a Local Authority client of mine within the Southeast who is looking for a Deputy Head of Pensions to join their team on a 6-month rolling contract.

This role will be hybrid based, with 1 day in office per week required and attendance for Pensions Committee meetings.

As the Deputy Head of Pensions, you will work closely with the Head of Pension Fund to oversee the strategic and operational management of the Local Government Pension Scheme. You will ensure the efficient delivery of service with a strong emphasis on governance, compliance and employer engagement.



Responsibilities:


Support and deputise for the Head of Pension Fund, as required.
Assist the Head of Pension Fund in the overall management and strategic direction of the pension scheme.
Lead and mentor a team of pension professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
Contract management and lead liaison for legal and actuarial contracts and monitor and support on all Fund procurement activity. Project managing the Triennial Valuation.
Manage the development of long-term pension strategies, including funding arrangements, investment strategies and risk mitigation measures. Co-ordinate, produce and monitor the Business Plan and Risk Register, in alignment with the Funds overarching objectives.

To be Shortlisted you will need:

Have proven experience in pension scheme management, with a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape.
Have strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing teams.
Be a strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Extensive experience and knowledge of LGPF
