Role Description
The purpose of this role is to lead a team which manages, supports and advises in all aspects of Finance across multiple business areas covering a broad range of business models, distribution channels and business functions, and the various complexities these bring.
As a member of each business area’s/function’s senior management team, the Senior Business Partnering Manager is responsible for advising on financial matters and providing financial support, information and analysis. The role is required to make recommendations and provide the appropriate level of challenge to facilitate the achievement of the business goals and balancing the needs of each area accordingly.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides financial management expertise and guidance to the distribution channels/business functions, informing and contributing to decision-making at all levels.
- Influences key business decisions across a broad area of responsibility by building strong relationships, engaging with a wide range of senior/director stakeholders and attending business management meetings.
- Engages with multiple directors and other senior stakeholders across all business areas, functions and projects to ensure conflicting priorities are managed and appropriate activity is resourced.
- Appraises and signs off new business opportunities and projects to ensure that all relevant financial aspects are considered with an appropriate recommendation.
- Manages and controls the expense budgeting and corporate planning process for their business areas/functions.
- Manages the production of financial management information for use within the business areas/ functions ensuring all output is accurate and timely.
- Ensures all reporting and accounting is carried out to the required standards and quality and to the agreed timescales.
- Motivates, leads and develops the team to deliver outstanding performance and service to the business, providing challenge and support as appropriate.
Skills & Experience
- Up-to-date insurance accounting and regulatory reporting knowledge.
- Ability to apply management accounting and financial management techniques to inform business decision-making and provide financial benefit.
- Good understanding of underwriting, technical and operational disciplines including actuarial reserving.
- Minimum of five years post-qualification experience (CIMA, ACCA or ACA).
- Experience of working in finance within the insurance industry (minimum three years).
- Proven ability to influence key senior stakeholders (to senior manager/director level).
- Leadership experience within a financial role.
- Relevant degree (Maths, Science or Finance-based degrees preferred).
- Qualified Accountant - CIMA or ACCA or ACA.
