We have a new exciting opportunity for accountants with previous construction experience in the heart of downtown Denver! Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location. Expected starting base salary $80,000 to $100,000 per year.

Location: Downtown Denver
Position Summary: As a Construction Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of our construction projects. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, maintain compliance with construction industry regulations, and support the overall financial management of our projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Utilize your strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices to perform financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting for construction projects.
  • Manage project cost tracking, including budget preparation, cost control, and variance analysis.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions related to construction projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments and receipts.
  • Monitor project cash flows, review payment applications, and coordinate with project teams to resolve any financial discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide financial guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain compliance with construction industry regulations and reporting requirements, including payroll taxes, insurance, and certified payroll.
  • Prepare financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for internal and external reporting.
  • Conduct regular audits of project financial records to identify potential errors or discrepancies and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Utilize CMiC software or similar construction accounting software to record and manage project financial data.
  • Support the financial closeout process for completed projects, including final billing, cost reconciliation, and project profitability analysis.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Accountant, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction compliance regulations, including certified payroll, prevailing wage, and insurance requirements.
  • Experience working with CMiC software or other construction accounting software is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
