Introduction
Diplomat South Africa is recruiting for the role of Senior Accounts Payable Clerk based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. This position will report to the Accountant.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support for the daily, weekly and monthly accounting functions.
  • Review and verify invoices and check requests, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Partner with procurement and purchasing teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of purchase orders and goods receipts.
  • Sort, code and match invoices, and enter them into the SAP system.
  • Prepare and perform payment runs, and monitor payment accounts and balances.
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and vendor statements, and research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
  • Maintain vendor files and records, and communicate with vendors and internal departments to resolve queries and disputes.
  • Supervise and train junior accounts payable staff, and provide guidance and feedback on their performance.
  • Assist with month-end closing and reporting activities, including reconciliations, accruals and prepare accounts payable aging reports.
  • Generate reports and provide financial analysis related to accounts payable activities.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and internal controls, and participate in audits and process improvement initiatives.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes affecting accounts payable processes.


Position Requirements
  • Matric or equivalent accredited by SAQA.
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field, with relevant experience.
  • At least 3 - 5 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting, preferably in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Proficient in SAP and Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations and payment processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
