Financial Accountant
Liverpool - Hybrid after induction period
Part-time (phasing to be agreed with the successful candidate)
The Financial Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of our international recruitment group. This role involves typical accounting responsibilities such as preparing financial reports, managing general ledger transactions, ensuring compliance and overseeing accounts payable and receivable. Additionally, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for calculating and processing commissions for our recruitment consultants and research team, ensuring accurate and timely payments.
Key
Responsibilities:
* Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
* Manage and reconcile the general ledger.
* Calculate and allocate central costs to each group company.
* Oversee and carry out accounts payable and receivable processes.
* Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts.
* Support month-end and year-end close processes, liaising with the external accountants in each country as required.
* Reconcile items within the bank and finance system, allocating to the correct group company.
* Prepare cashflow forecasting and budgeting as and when required with input from senior management.
* Prepare payroll inputs for payroll providers and obtain senior management approval.
* Calculate and process commissions for recruitment consultants based on individual performance metrics and company policies.
* Ensure accurate and timely payment of commissions and bonuses.
* Maintain detailed records of commission structures, calculations, any advances and pay-outs.
* Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
* Provide financial insights and recommendations to management for decision-making.
* Assist in preparing management reports and presentations.
* Put in place any financial processes required and ensure financial controls are in place and adhered to.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant finance and tax laws and regulations.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes and systems.
* Perform ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as required. Perform any other tasks reasonably requested from time to time by senior management.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or other prestigious degree.
* Accounting qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACA).
* Minimum of 3 years of experience post-qualification in financial accounting, preferably within the recruitment or staffing industry.
* Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
* Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero QuickBooks, Sage or similar).
* Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modelling.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
* High attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
