Job Overview:
The Senior Financial Markets Specialist will oversee the development of financial benchmarks, and assist in the transition to alternative reference rates in South Africa. The role includes researching market microstructures, creating analytics to identify market inefficiencies, and tracking the transmission of monetary policy.
Responsibilities:
Research and maintain analytics related to interest rate and foreign exchange markets.
Lead the development and review of interest rate benchmarks.
Contribute to working groups and strategic initiatives.
Oversee benchmark determination and improve processes.
Collaborate with various specialists to implement data and infrastructure solutions.
Build relationships with stakeholders and provide reports on market transparency.
Requirements:
Honours degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Data Science, or similar.
8-10 years of experience in financial markets.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, R, and/or Python, with strong data analysis skills.
