Role Purpose
Our Rating team provides professional Business Rates advice to a diverse range of clients, including landlords, occupiers, investors, and developers. We assist clients with appeals and negotiations with local authorities regarding their rates.
We are specifically looking for a Senior Surveyor to join our Occupier team, supporting our prestigious clients across offices, retail and industrial sectors. As part of your role, you will be responsible for offering advice and devising strategies for clients in order to minimize their rate liabilities. Additionally, you will assist them in applying for any necessary reliefs and exemptions.
You will have the tenacity and ability to learn new skills, take initiative and provide support to Directors and Senior Directors on high profile and complex cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct rating valuations, negotiations, property inspections, and gather relevant data for assessing business rates.
  • Prepare business rate estimates and assist in the submission of appeals to challenge rateable values.
  • Engage with clients, build strong relationships, and maintain accurate records of assessments and appeals.
  • Stay updated on relevant legislation, case law, and regulations related to business rates.
  • Assist Directors or SDs in undertaking complex business rates projects and liaise with local authorities and other professionals involved in the valuation process.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies.
  • Integrate into the wider CBRE network and to develop relationships with key CBRE service lines including Agency, Investment, Property Management and Development to promote the team and leverage opportunities.


Person Specification/Requirements
  • Good interpersonal & communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Commercially astute with an entrepreneurial attitude to business development.
  • Ability to work autonomously and co-ordinate tasks efficiently to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Accurate and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Confident and assertive where required.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Understands and appreciates the importance of using discretion.
  • Team player who works effectively with colleagues and clients.

It would be helpful to have the following but is not essential:
  • Experience in providing rating advice and negotiating appeals.
  • Detailed knowledge of rating legislation and case law.
  • Good general surveying and inspection skills.
  • Familiarity with Rating software Riverlake and Analyse beneficial.
