We are looking for a Resource Planning Manager to join our Audit and Assurance team on a Fixed Term 12-month contract.

Location is flexible but regular travel to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Newcastle offices is required.

Job Purpose:

The Resource Planning Manager will support all 6 Audit offices, continuing to develop and support Resource Management strategies, processes and procedures in line with business objectives as well as maintaining our People Centric strategic offering.

The Resource Planning Manager will be responsible for (but not limited to):
  • Management of a small team including the Resource Planning Assistant Manager and Senior Assistant
  • Take ownership for monthly and quarterly reporting to the Head of Audit and Leadership Groups, including, but not limited to, monthly utilisation, budgeting data, resourcing and availability reporting and capacity planning
  • Working with the Partner/Director Group on all new win and tender opportunities, acting as a Business Advisor and providing strategic advice on resourcing
  • Taking the lead on the budgeting process, leading the RM Team and Business Line on this annual window
  • Working closely with the RM Assistant Manager on resourcing, clash resolution and shortage reviews to ensure we are fully resourced up to 12 months in advance and support on Business Line communications
  • Lead discussions on trends, reporting insights, capacity constraints and change management.
  • Leading on the People Centric strategic objective of the RM team to enhance team structures and consider practitioner well-being and career development
  • Working with Engagement Managers and Partner/Director group on key financials driven from the budgeting process including negotiations, charge out rates and recovery expectations
  • Attending monthly manager meetings within local offices to build relationships, deliver key resourcing communications and remain up-to-date on local considerations
  • Advising the Business Line on capacity constraints, performance and delivery issues and managing expectations from a financial and resourcing perspective
  • Taking an active role to advise on Early Career consideration such as recruitment and exam pathway reviews
  • Working with our outsourced team in South Africa from an operational view including training and development considerations, recruitment reviews and portfolio development
  • Ability to lead challenging conversations and push back on resourcing requests from a strategic and operational view
  • Taking an active role to review and manage all non-chargeable time engagements with the support of the Resource Planning Senior Assistant.

About You:
  • Experience of managing a small team
  • A sound understanding of the operations of an Audit function
  • A good understanding of the professional pathways to become a Chartered Accountant
  • A commercial mindset and ability to build relationships at all levels
  • Ability to manage challenging conversations
  • Ability to manipulate different data sets and work comfortably with Excel
  • An innovative mindset and ability to ‘think outside the box’.
  • A leader of your work and your professional learning
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to positively impact and influence others
  • An understanding of a resourcing operation within Professional Services is advantageous
