International Tax Manager - APAC

Sedgwick is looking to hire an experienced Tax Manager on a permanent basis. Based at our Fenchurch Street office in London, the International Tax Manager will work closely with the International Tax Senior Manager and Director with current initiatives across APAC including tax compliance, governance and controls. The role will involve assisting with ad hoc queries from the business on corporate direct and indirect taxes matters.

The business is very fast paced, and the role will give you exposure to all levels of the business. The role will challenge all your competencies, ranging from system and technical skills to softer communication skills.

Your main duties responsibilities will include:
  • To build a close relationship with our finance colleagues across APAC that currently deal with the tax compliance in their regions.
  • Business partner with stakeholders across EMEA to ensure tax deadlines are met and tax matters are addressed.
  • To assist with the liaison with tax advisors across APAC to ensure the correct tax information is provided.
  • To provide support and assistance with local tax requirements across APAC as required.
  • Liaise with advisors in relation to local country CFC, anti-hybrid, etc requirements.
  • Together with the International Tax Manager - EMEA develop a tax compliance and governance framework for the international tax side of the business. This includes the development of tax calendars and control sheets to allow the team to monitor tax deadlines and our compliance with these.
  • Manage tax advisors and stakeholders.
  • To assist with ad hoc APAC direct tax requirements.
  • To respond to ad hoc direct tax queries from the business.
  • To assist with corporate tax issues that arise from global mobility, include PE risks across the APAC region.
  • To assist with transfer pricing for the group.
  • To support with correspondence with tax authorities including but not limited to, drafting letters, completion of double tax treaty forms, etc.
  • Involvement in projects as they arise. E.g. rationalisations, M&A, thin capitalization, etc.
  • Assist with WHT management, clearance applications, working with treasury and loan management team to ensure we are financing the business efficiently.
  • To assist with administrative tasks such as budgets, reconciliations for tax related GL accounts, post, etc.


We are looking for someone with these specific skills and experience:
  • Educated to degree level, a qualified tax accountant with a tax qualification.
  • Strong direct and indirect tax experience.
  • A commercial mindset.
  • Knowledge of and experience in direct tax requirement across UK, EMEA and APAC.
  • Insurance or claims management industry experience not essential but desirable.
  • Experience in working in an international environment including time zone management.
  • Experience of working in a highly pressured dynamic environment.
  • Strong people and influencing skills with the ability to build positive relationships across all levels.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to communicate with Executives and non-financial individuals alike.
  • Ability to identify issues and use initiative to solve complex problems.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
