The Billing Assistant is an integral part of Latham’s Finance & Accounting team. This role will be responsible for supporting the Client Account & Billing Liaison and Billing Coordinators in all aspects of the billing process, while performing the finalization of invoices in line with internal and external regulation and legislation including Value-Added Tax (VAT), Criminal Finances Act, Solicitor’s Accounts Rules, and Money Laundering regulations. This role will be located in our Manchester office, however there there may be occasional travel required to the London office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Processing Work-in-Progress (WIP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) write offs as appropriate
  • Applying Billed On Account balances as requested
  • Supporting the Manager, Client Account & Billing Liaison, Billing Coordinators, and E-billing coordinators with ad hoc requests
  • Processing time/costs transfers and narrative edits to timecards as required
  • Liaising with Billing Coordinators to ensure all invoices are generated and queries are responded to in a timely manner

  • Display the ability to communicate confidently and effectively at all levels within an organization, the ability to manage the workload and prioritize in order to meet deadlines, and the ability to work under pressure
  • Demonstrate good organizational skills
  • Possess strong numerical skills


And have:

  • A high school diploma, A-Level graduate, or equivalent
  • Prior work experience in a professional services environment
  • Experience in using financial systems
