The Role: Group VAT Accountant

Hybrid Working available

The Finance & Tax team are recruiting for an experiencedVAT Accountant is to join them in the Nottingham office. This position, presents an exciting prospect of joining a global organization that demonstrates a strong commitment to professional growth and a welcoming work environment. The VAT Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting UK VAT compliance activity, preparing the UK Quarterly VAT Return for the UK VAT Group, Insurance broker, and other related business lines. Responsibilities:

  • Your primary responsibility will be the preparation of the UK Quarterly VAT Return for the UK VAT Groups.
  • You will extract data from various IT applications, verify this data, and analyse transactions by applying UK VAT rules.
  • You will also perform transactional reviews following internal SOPs and HMRC VAT compliance guidance.
  • Your role will extend beyond these tasks as you support the UK Tax team with International VAT compliance preparation/review and contribute to ongoing process improvement and systems refinements.

Experience & Qualifications:
  • ACA (or equivalent) or CTA (part or fully) qualified tax professional.
  • Qualified to CCAB or ATT.
  • You have experience of working in a complex International Group with a range of VAT recoverable rates.
  • Production of UK and International VAT returns.
  • Robust knowledge of current UK and International VAT legislation.
  • Use of VAT specific software including Alpha VAT - desirable.
  • Good communication and influencing skills with stakeholders at all levels.
  • You will have experience of Data manipulation from multiple sources.
  • Advanced Excel skills are desirable but not essential.
  • You will be highly organised and have great time management,
  • You will have a positive can do attitude and will be a natural problem solver, multi-tasker, along with a high level of attention to detail,
  • You will have excellent communication skills both verbally and written
