Our client is looking for a Junior Investment Associate who will conduct in-depth quantitative and qualitative analyses, review a variety of equity and quasi-equity instruments for investment structuring, and perform financial analysis, research, and valuations of potential investment opportunities.Duties & ResponsibilitiesMain Responsibilities: Pre-Investment Analysis:
- Perform initial screenings and entrepreneurial assessments
- Evaluate the commercial viability of applications
- Conduct both fundamental and technical analyses to prepare investments for presentation to the Screening Investment Committee
- Ensure all documentation and stages of investment are properly completed
- Provide financial analysis, modelling, and investment structuring
- Conduct comprehensive analyses of investment reports from the investments team
- Support the due diligence process by providing informed sector-specific insights
- Assist in the preparation, review, and continuous improvement of financial models and investment reports
- Utilize quantitative and qualitative analysis to support investment recommendations and strategic decisions
- Conduct industry research and maintain a knowledge centre for all research materials
- Provide insights into economic and sector trends, recommending potential sectors for investment
- Develop investment ideas using quantitative techniques
- Maintain up-to-date portfolio contribution data and support the team in executing the investment strategy in line with fund mandates
- Support the evaluation of fund/investment performance through regular reviews
- Share knowledge with the team and stakeholders through formal and informal interactions
- Assist in marketing the fund's mandate and investment strategy
- Contribute to the company's reputation and market presence through various initiatives, including representing the company in various forums
- B.Com with majors in Accounting, Economics, or Finance
- A tertiary qualification in quantitative analysis or finance
- CFA designation or other postgraduate studies will be an advantage
- Strong research, financial modelling, business writing, and presentation skills
- Expertise in financial statement analysis and a solid understanding of good accounting practices
- Knowledge of valuation methodologies and financial statement analysis
- Familiarity with various types of agreements and contracts
- Strong quantitative analysis skills
- Knowledge of key commercial statutes and regulations (e.g., Tax, Companies Act) will be an advantage
- Understanding the SME investment sector will be beneficial
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in investments
- Experience in building financial models is advantageous
- Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
