We are working with an NHS organisation who are seeking to appoint an Interim Head of Financial Management for a short term assignment. The contract will start ASAP and will be for 4 months initially with an option to extend.
The role will be hybrid working and will be remunerated under AfC at Bands 8c/8d depending upon experience and skill sets.
The role will expect the successful post holder to be responsible for the day to day operations of the Finance Business Partner and Financial Management teams, to ensure the provision of management accounts, costing, forecasting and financial advice for the Trust, and the maintenance of the team’s systems; provide professional support to Financial Management; and support the Director of Finance and Deputy Director of Finance as appropriate.
Significant and demonstrable experience managing financial services within the NHS is essential.
Key responsibilities will include:
Ensure the preparation of all income and expenditure budgets with the Trust;
To estimate the value of reserves that need to be budgeted to sufficiently provide for pay awards and inflation;
Ensure procedures are in place to maintain establishment control and budgetary control during both budget setting and mid financial year;
To provide a mechanism for analysing changes to budgets and a full audit trail.
Lead on external reporting to the ICB including underlying position and run rate analysis;
Provide sensitivity analysis against forecasts to ensure financial risks are appropriately accounted for and in doing so identify trends and areas of concern;
To be proactive in identifying corrective and mitigating actions and to work with managers across the Trust to ensure that action plans are developed that reduce the impact of these risks, enabling the control total to be met;
To provide financial support and advice to the Contracting Team to ensure that contract variations reflect monies due to the Trust;
Support the Finance Business Partners to monitor with a specific focus on key areas.
The ideal candidate will have/be:
Degree Level;
CCAB Qualified;
5+ years previous NHS Finance experience, of which 3+ years is in a Senior Management role;
Up to date knowledge of Accounting Standards and NHS Finance Manual.
