Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail orientated bookkeeper to primarily service a progressive client in the agricultural sector. The appropriate candidate will work closely with the finance director and head of operations. Working hours can be agreed and fixed with additional capacity presenting growth opportunity, both personally and financially.

Key responsibilities

• Import and reconciliation of petty cash records.
• Import and reconciliation of payment platforms, including Payfast and Yoco.
• Accounting and tax allocation of co-op purchase accounts and loan facilities.
• Liaise with appropriate farm managers with reference to above, and to ensure that all transactions are legitimate and reasonable.
• Import and reconciliation of purchase invoices with several bank accounts. This includes liaising with appropriate drivers and other staff to obtain necessary and relevant supporting documents.
• Managing several inter-company invoices and reconciliation of inter-company loan accounts.
• Invoicing of staff sales accounts and reconciliation with payroll.
• Debtors management including customer statements and follow-ups, with support from head of operations.
• Support with supplier payment process.
• Periodic VAT reconciliations and review.
• Maintenance of the online sales platform, with support from the head of operations.

• 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping and accounting.
• Proficiency in Xero, Dext, and Excel will be greatly beneficial.
• Experience with the agriculture sector will be an advantage.
• Experience in Wordpress and Woocommerce or similar online sales platforms would be advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and strong communication skills.
• Must have own transport.
