Payroll Assistant
We are looking for a Payroll Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team in York. If you have previous payroll or finance administration experience and the ability to maintain a high standard of accuracy, this could be the role for you!
As a Payroll Assistant, you will deliver a timely and accurate payroll for Portakabin, in line with HMRC legislation and company policy and procedures.
Role Details
Role Responsibilities
* To prepare and process weekly and monthly payrolls in line with payroll cycle processes, ensuring the information is accurate and timely. Including processing benefits, for example pensions, private healthcare etc.
* To undertake manual calculation of tax, national insurance and other statutory deductions as required, and to contribute to the statutory obligations of the payroll function, for example HMRC submissions and payment obligations.
* To assist with the continued development of the internal payroll system to ensure continuous process improvement, including keeping up to date on company policies and legislation impacting payroll.
* To develop and deliver appropriate reports and management information to enable accurate analysis, payroll balancing, and audit.
* To contribute to year end processes and procedures, distribution of statutory forms, for example P60s in line with HMRC timetables.
* To provide support to the payroll team, wider HR function and business in respect of specific payroll queries and to contribute to and support a shared HR administrative workload.
* To maintain high levels of confidentiality when dealing with sensitive data and issues.

Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who has:
* A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
* Experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook
* Strong working knowledge and previous experience of using HR and payroll systems
* Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system
* Knowledge and experience of payroll, HMRC, tax, NI, expenses and benefits, statutory payment legislation including monthly and year end returns

Role Details
Salary:
£25,000 - £28,000 + Annual Bonus- Role based: York, YO32
- Contract type: Permanent
- Annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays
