Introduction
My client a specialized food manufacturer of private-label perishable and shelf-stable foods. They have a national footprint, supplying products daily into central DCs for despatch around the country. We are seeking a candidate with a solid Financial and HR background and good managerial skills.

Description of role:

The Financial and HR Manager will be responsible and accountable for leading the admin team. They will be required to effectively collaborate all functions within the team, oversee and monitor the full spectrum of the accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting and financial management principles in daily operations and practices, and manage all the HR functions of the business. They will also take accountability for employee relations and maintaining of staff records.

Key roles:
  • Compile the monthly management accounts
  • Annalyse and report on variances and determine paths of actions
  • Manage the admin team
  • Manage the HR requirements of the business

Key areas of responsibility:

Finance:
  • Variance reporting
  • Resolve accounting queries
  • Prepare and maintain trial balance and balance sheets
  • Prepare, control and maintain asset register
  • Process all month-end journals.
  • Manage SARS submissions and address and resolve any queries.
  • Debtors and creditor reconciliations.
  • Loading of creditor payments.
  • Check invoices for accuracy and sign-off.
  • Manage and oversee petty cash transactions.
  • Prepare audit files and liaise and manage auditors.
  • Loading all payments.
  • Prepare all wages and salaries for payment.

HR: Manage HR portfolio, including daily management of
  • Absenteeism, leave etc
  • Daily reports
  • Management of Time & Attendance software
  • Manage all staff files and records.
  • Disciplinary Action & Hearings - initiate, where applicable, investigations and document preparation for disciplinary action.

Skillset, Computer Literacy and Competency
  • Excellent numeracy skills and ability to analyse data with the ability to see the bigger picture in terms of how they impact the overall financial bottom line.
  • Excellence in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data extraction and formatting), Word, Outlook, Pastel and Microsoft Teams.
  • Pastel experience in invoicing, accounts receivable & payables, payroll processing & payments, taxation, VAT, Management accounts and annual financial statements
  • Ability to submit and manage tax, VAT and other compliance matters on eFilling.
  • Ability to manage all statutory compliance matters.
  • Ability to interface with banking systems and Pastel.
  • Good leadership skills and ability to motivate staff, delegate, work with and in teams, absorb pressure and successfully resolve conflict and develop people.
  • Effective and clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good problem-solving skills through investigation and subsequent sustainable solution implementation.

Relevant Education and Experience level
  • B Comm in Financial Management or Accounting.
  • Previous work experience in managing HR
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in a similar role.
  • Valid RSA driver's license.
