Introduction
Long established Five Star Hotel on Atlantic Seaboard of Cape Town offers secure opportunity

to Assistant Accountant who is well qualified and keen to work in the hotel industry. Ideal

work environment and an Assistant Accountant can share their ability with the rest of the team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Update revenue report daily after reviewing the Night Audit pack for accuracy, paying

careful attention to revnue rates, package breakfast splits and adjustments processed

Review guest, city and deposit leders to validate proper payment and revenue posting

Review F&B revenue and ensure it is pulling through Opera. Check for variances

Check cash summary report for accuracy and ensure banking deposits reflect on bank statements

Manage petty cash cloats, arrange for reimbursement of all floats within the Hotel regularly after

verifying documentation

Ensure weekly reimbursement of main float, ensuring sufficient money and change for weekly payment

of tips and ad hoc expenditure within Hotel

Perform float checks monthly of all Hotel floats

Supervise junior Clerks

Process petty cash on Pastel

Process monthly journals on Pastel for revenue, staff meals, recurring journals, prepayments, sundry

expenses, rentals and accruals

Check stock accounts ensuring they are correct together with food and beverage costing

Check daily cash ups for cash and credit card entries

Prepare monthly accounts to trial balance and management account level ready for review

Check accounts for accuracy and issue to Financial Manager for final review

Complete balance sheet reconciliations and follow-up on any variances. Ensure they are cleared before month end

Set up new accounts in accordance with credit policy

Assist with creditors queries, maintain contract file, any other job related duties as and when assigned by Financial Manager
Desired Experience & Qualification
Grade 12

B.Com or similar professional qualification is essential

Minimum 5 years knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the required functions a necessity

Ability to support the Finance Department, Accountant and management team completing clerial

and accounting tasks

Ability to supervise junior clerks

Preparing budgets, maintaining reports, and completing basic bookkeeping and acconunting duties for the company

Computer literate with practial knowledge of MS Office (Email, Excel & Word)

Pastel and Opera Systems knowledge and experience advantageous
